Its not that I won't carve my place with a new team either.

[Humming with his exhale this time, kneading Rin's shoulder and tipping his head down to rub his nose just above his hair, Oikawa let's him just talk with those quieter words.]

No, you have a point there. I'm leaving my team in good hands, my kouhai are smart and eager to get stronger, but I know the setter taking my place is worried he won't live up to what I built.

[koat]

[ Rin lets his eyes close at that, making a quiet sound as if to assure Oikawa that he's listening. ] That's good, you won't have to worry, but that setter- [ There's a slight hesitance to the word, his lack of familiarity with the sport showing. ] -shouldn't worry either. The team'll be different just because you're not there, but it can still be good even if it isn't the same. [ He huffs out a small laugh, opening his eyes once more to watch the rise and fall of his friend's chest, something that draws his hand over so he can place a palm against it, soothed by rhythmic breathing. ] Ah, you've got me all nostalgic. Wonder what my team would've become if... If things were like they are for you, if I left earlier. [ But there's sadness to his tone, wistful in nature, and Rin grows quiet for a few more moments. ] Can I ask you something, Tooru?

[Oikawa continues the idle little gestures, just touching and holding and relaxing like this - it's kind of nice. For as much as he bundles up with Iwaizumi, they smell totally different. Iwaizumi smells kind of sweaty, kind of musky, and Rin smells much lighter. There's still a scent of sweat, but everyone smells a little here - it's not really unpleasant at least. Breathing in deep and exhaling quietly with that hand on his chest, Oikawa shifts mildly to look down through blond hair to watch him curiously - he can hear that wistful tone.]

Yeah, fire away.

[ Rin's gaze flicks upward, then makes a downward sweep as uncertainty shows on his expression, making it almost clear that he's deliberating over whether or not to say something - if there's any question of that it's cleared away by the hesitance in his tone. ] If there was someone important to you that... wasn't here, in this creepy place, would you... want them to be? Here with you?

Hmmm.... if Iwa-chan wasn't here, would I want him here with me?

[Aha. Its a selfish answer and for a long moment, he stews on it. It's bad that his answer is instant, isn't it? What kind of friend is he, ahahaha...]

Truthfully? [Hhe almost doesn't want tosay, and it shows in how he hides his face in Rin's hair.] Yeah. I'd have to say yeah. I'd still want him here.

[koat]

[ Rin's following breaths waver, unsteady just as his voice, his thoughts, his feelings seem. Still, he tries to laugh, the sound stilted. ] Yeah. Yeah, I get that. Especially if it's the only way you'd be able to see them again, right?

Mm. So don't feel like you're bad, for wanting to see your Iwa-chan.

[He says it gently, understanding even if he doesn't know the full context; there's no way he could know or understand that much with as little as he knows. It still feels heavy, the way Rin tries to chuckle - so Oikawa just rubs his face into blond hair before shifting back enough to comb it back and look down at him.]

You're just like anyone else, you want familiar faces. Like, if we're trapped here for longer than we could even think about now, you'd want at least a chance to say something. [Apologies for dumb things. Thanks, for being there up until the moment they parted.]

[ Just like anyone else... Such a statement doesn't feel like it should be true, though Rin hardly thinks of himself as anything close to special, as that might make it seem. ] I don't deserve to see him again. [ It's barely a whisper, maybe too quiet to be heard, but Rin's tone wavers and he feels suddenly too vulnerable, pulling away from Oikawa so he can sit up, arms wrapped around his knees. ] I... Let myself think I'd be able to, even though I know it's impossible, or it's supposed to be. [ Dead people don't come back normally, after all. He heaves a sigh, low and distinctively sad. ] I was being stupid. I don't even get why I'm talking about it.

[Oikawa hears it even if Rin speaks it far too quietly, like he doesn't want to be heard; he lets him up though, even as he props himself up on an elbow in following, he listens as Rin finishes.]

You don't deserve to be miserable though either, Rin.

[He says it lightly, even if he knows that once again he seems to be missing a piece of the puzzle; he can make enough of a guess. Reaching out again, tugging Rin with his knees up and all back down into curling into him, Oikawa tucks that blond head under his chin.]

You can talk about it just to get the idea out. I'll say I make a pretty good soundboard, even if you aren't looking to say anything in particular though, okay?

[ Rin huffs out a breath in exasperation at Oikawa's behaviour, but most of the sentiment is in a fair amount of amusement as he lets himself be dragged back down. How stubborn... At least he doesn't pry too much, and he doesn't have to fake his usual smiles with how he can hide his face into the other's neck or against his chest. ] You'd change your mind if you knew better. [ He murmurs, but there's only a beat before he laughs, much louder than his earlier spoken words, and burrows closer, all as distraction. ] Mm, I'll remember that, Tooru. You've still got enough room for me here, right? I'll just be staying a couple nights if anything.

Course we've got room for you.

[Oikawa just shuts his eyes once Rin settles in again, hardly thinking much of it when he burrows against his neck because it doesn't feel strange to him at all. He'd change his mind if he knew better, huh... he won't ask, not now. But that is filed away into the back of his mind, that there is so much more to Rin than he expresses - he has been able to sense it, that some things were just as fake as his own, but those kinds of personalities hide something deeper. Always.]
