[She glances at the paper in Oikawa's hand from time to time, but lets herself be guided along. Mapping out the school is a good idea, she should probably do that too when she finds something to write on and put down where all the rooms are and if there's any landmarks to help her find the way around. Better than unravelling a twine of thread as she wandered and using it to find her way back home.]
It's okay, I get lost all the time too. [She looks at him reassuringly. ...is this reassuring coming from her.] Sometimes when I go shopping for groceries I take different small alleys and streets so I can't be tracked by spies, and avoid big roads where a truck might lose control and run off the road and crash into a lamp post and burst into flames right in the middle of the sidewalk. [every day's an adventure.] We'll get there eventually!
[There might be a half-drawing of a map that she can skim, but for the most part, he's keeping the paper up out of sight because - there isn't really a whole map drawn. This place makes no sense, layout-wise, and nothing is in the same place it should be. It's come down to notes for him, how some rooms appear more frequently than others.
Chuckling lightly, smiling at the fact that she's the one trying to be reassuring, Oikawa tries to picture all that craziness happen and grins just a bit more.]
Heeeh? That sounds really exciting actually! It's like making your own adventure out of a chore that might get dull, just walking home in a straight line. You've got a creative imagination, huh?
[Funny, how even if Oikawa didn't need the reassurance, the fact that she's talking is more than helpful for both of them. She was definitely relaxing, and he was getting to know her better - considering he still can only vaguely remember her name still, haaa.]
[Yachi laughs sheepishly. Exciting... More like heart pounding and constant terror, but it was true she rarely gets bored.]
A-ah, I'm not all that creative. They're mostly normal thoughts! Though I guess I should pay more attention when I'm walking around outside.
[Also inside, or she wouldn't have lost on her own in the first place. It's a good thing Oikawa was the one who picked her up though; like Sawamura, both captains gave off this reliable air-- one of the reasons why they are best suited to lead their teams. ...Though Oikawa was decidedly less scary than the Karasuno captain.]
They're super creative! Not everyone thinks like that, and besides, you pay well enough attention where it counts, mm?
[This time he's leading her down a different hallway, eyes flicking ahead and counting classroom doors - this time it's right, four classrooms, that means the cafeteria should be there. Good.]
I guess. [But Yachi sounds happy. She pays attention in class, and in volleyball. Times when she needs to pay attention, she does it well. But when she's being led around the school, somehow attention slips away completely, with the constant nagging thought that she absolutely does not want to be here.
Trying to see what Oikawa was taking note of was getting difficult and she probably shouldn't waste her time doing things the way he does. What might work better for her is the surefire way to get out of any maze: right hand touches the wall, and keep walking, you'll always find the exit. She can at least remember what floor everything's on. She can do that, right? There can't be a dozen floors, schools aren't supposed to be built that high.]
