[With the bell ringing, Oikawa was taking his damn sweet time in shoving his phone in his pocket and resting his chin in his hands, watching Kuroo come over - but that grab and drag came as enough of a surprise that he ended up laughing a bit and giving him an eyebrow wraggle before moving to pick up his steps to keep up.]
I know you can’t wait to get your hands on me. [ Literally and figuratively. Should he have sashayed all proper like at him? Oh well. Imagine he’d done so, because now they’re exiting the classroom and Kuroo’s only pulling him closer, till Oikawa has no other choice but to stumble after him.
[For someone to actively engage into so much personal space is honestly fairly new - usually Oikawa uses it as a tactic to bulldoze someone into something through sheer force of personality and mild invasion of personal space. He doesn't get the feeling it's exactly that in this instance... though force of personality is definitely being judged. For once, someone taller than him, if only by an inch. Is it just something in the water, in Tokyo?
There's no shrug to get Kuroo to let go, nor to make him move; Oikawa even reaches back to flick some of that bedhead and chuckle more.]
I feel like we need to go somewhere so much more private, but the thrill of being out in the open like this, doesn't it just call to you? [With settling that close though, Kuroo is bound to notice the slight difference in Oikawa's steps; one leg is being favored the tiniest bit and it shows in the almost stumble he had to catch up.]
[ There’s no more force here than a guy who understands his own body to its fullest extent and is pretty much comfortable with it, regardless of whom he happens to be next to. Maybe Tokyo confers a certain sense of cosmopolitanism upon its citizens. Maybe Kuroo just doesn’t give a shit one way or another and is trying to throw the guy off-balance.
And maybe he’s done it, albeit not in a way that he’s hoping for. The guy doesn’t fluster easy, eh? He cocks an eyebrow as Oikawa brushes his hair aside, his grip on the other slackening once he feels that slight limp to the other.
Once they’re out in the relative privacy of the hallways he lets go completely, turning around to face him with his hands thrust in his pockets—a perfectly relaxed gesture, considering. He has yet to see that knee brace, after all, and it isn’t exactly visible underneath his gakuran. ]
And here I thought I was shameless. [ Dealing with him may be more of a challenge than he’d thought. ]
You couldn’t even wait till we got to the courtyard before doing it?
[Easily sliding his own hands behind his head to match that relaxed gesture with one of his own and turn on his heel to walk backwards and wink, Oikawa starts down the hall that he knows should eventually take them to the gym - eventually, meaning, he may backtrack them up the hall and down the 'other hallway' until the school has stopped shifting enough to let them go to where they want to go - the courtyard.]
If we're lucky, the weird gardener might not be out and about today!
Not as much of a thrill as you’re turning out to be. [ Take it as you please, big boy, as Kuroo cocks his head to the side at the direction the other’s taking, before shrugging his shoulders and following. Oikawa’s probably more used to these shifting hallways than he is, anyway. They still make Kuroo dizzy more often than not. ]
[Turning on his other heel to turn himself back around and face the same direction he's going, that's the step that makes his limp just a little more noticeable - and then he's walking properly, like he's caught on and is refusing to show just how much his leg will bother him from shenanigans. What an interesting teammate they've picked up. Oikawa assumes he's joining, there's not really even a thought that Kuroo wouldn't join the volleyball club here. They all have things they want to keep up on.
It's not much longer before the doors to the courtyard come up and Oikawa is leaning in the doorway, looking out; it's raining lightly, nothing more than a sprinkle at this point, so they could go out without getting downright drenched.]
[ Ah, he’s gotta be pretty full of himself if he takes that as a compliment.
But…maybe it is. Who knows? Semantics, man. In the grander scheme of things they’re as faint and inconsequential as the slight drizzle pattering their faces once they’ve stepped out into the courtyard.
Well, surely the setting is romantic enough. Kuroo wonders if he’s overdoing this, and inwardly shrugs. Doesn’t seem like it’s going to matter at this rate—they’ll play their little game until someone gets sick of it, or a volleyball gets socked into somebody’s face. Because of course he’s joining the team. He’s not leaving Karasuno in the hands of strangers.
Especially ones who can’t even corrupt them properly. ]
Give me another reason to flatter you, then. How did you guys gain Tsukishima’s respect, of all people?
Sticking his hand out into some of that rainwater and just lightly rinsing his fingers with it, Oikawa has to give a curious look at that sort of question, a cheeky smile spreading across his face before he pulls his hand back to shake the water off.]
I guess because even if we're certainly not from the same team, we're dependable and trying to keep everyone we know safe. Iwa-chan is a bit more reliable than me, and I'm just here to keep everyone from getting too depressed. Why, did he really have stories to regale you with about us?
if you want to swing by classroom 3-C i can hand you the forms after lunch.
i do have a few questions, but let's start there. how did you like watching the game? did it seem fun, were there any particular positions you thought you'd like to try?
sure it's something to do while we figure out how to get out of this place the one where you jump up to hit the ball seemed cool i think i heard someone call it something but i forgot the name started with an s
ah, the wing spiker! most energetic people like it because it means you are the offensive force - you are the main way our team gets points by being the spiker.
there's lots of different ways to spike even, that isn't just that nice full on or cross court you probably saw, but that's something to work up to learning. i can definitely help you with that sort of training myself, though my particular skills are more about playing setter - but that's good, since you can't spike without a setter~
so whats your name? tsukichan probably already said my name was oikawa, but you can call me that or captain, i'll respond to either!
defense isn't always a tall persons job, but as a new player it would take a while before you'd be good at receiving anyway.
cassius, thats a unique name! ohooo 2-b actually has students in it now, huh.. i heard it was only a classroom full of test takers before, so good to hear none are weird and full of locals anymore.
tsukichan is a nickname for tsukishima! i usually nickname most of my favorite people
[ It’s a shockingly honest reply, coming from someone Kuroo increasingly suspects is putting on an act for the benefit of others. Or for himself? Who knows? Maybe it’s the fact that the courtyard feels pleasantly less oppressive compared to the inside of the school that’s letting his guard down. Kuroo will never know, either way. ]
He gave me the basics. [ I.E. Karasuno’s win against their team, not to mention the loss of Iwaizumi’s hand and Oikawa’s supposed “death.” He remembers that little conversation he’d had with Yachi and he has to smile a little at that.
You can’t keep anyone safe from hell, you know. But apparently you can get them to at least smile. And Oikawa has a cute enough smile, all things considered. ]
He didn’t tell me my new captain would be kind of a frivolous idiot though.
that certainly wouldn't be nice of me to say when i havent even met you yet!! of course not!!!! besides, i know a spiker who is barely five feet tall and he does just fine~
i guess its par for the course now that "transfer students" are going to wake in their classrooms like everyone else who has shown up so far - and they were probably scared about sudden new students! the locals are pretty weird like that
i dont know if friends would be the right word, acquaintances? but i do like tsukichan for being a clever kind of guy~
[Is it better or worse that Kuroo's suspicions are completely true, and Oikawa is getting this mild feeling that he is being analyzed and eyed not for his looks, but his personality.]
Wah, is frivolous idiot your words or his? That's so mean, he's learning too quickly from Iwa-chan on how to berate me in ways that hurt my feeeelings.
[Which is a joke of itself, he's not really hurt by anything like that. Lightly puffing out his cheeks and making a little show out of being hurt, Oikawa turns his head to look back out into the courtyard and roll his sleeves up to take advantage of the rain after all - he might really be rinsing his hands now.]
Anyway, at least you're caught up to speed then on how surprising and super this school is turning out to be. I wouldn't expect Tsuki-chan to lay it on you as gently as he would a more skittish acquaintance. Feel free to ask any questions though, and I'll do what I can to answer with what I know. The bulletin board has a weekly poster though who makes a lot of notes, if you don't feel too lazy about reading it.
maybe we just want to think that and they're just as confused about everything as we are ........................................ yeah i cant even buy that thought myself, i dont know whats up with them but they're weird and im not fond of them.
he's the second most reliable person in the team right now i'd say!!
so tell me about yourself cassius! how old are you? would you say you're athletic even if you havent played volleyball before? did you come from earth? (this is just a curiosity thing, i've been meeting people who havent and it's just neat!)
